Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche
The village where the Ardèche Gorges end: two beaches, a suspension bridge dating from 1905 and, on the opposite bank, Aiguèze.

What to see, what to know
Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche marks the end of the gorges: this is where the canoes that set off from the Pont d'Arc come ashore. Here the river separates the Ardèche from the Gard, and the village faces Aiguèze on the opposite bank.
People come here for the river. The village has two beaches, and a suspension bridge, opened in 1905, links the two banks.
A former hamlet of fishermen and boatmen, surrounded by Côtes-du-Rhône vineyards, Saint-Martin was also home to two Surrealist artists, Leonora Carrington and Max Ernst, who lived here from 1938 to 1941.
The scenic road through the gorges links the village to Vallon-Pont-d'Arc.
